Mike is a licensed USCG Master Captain and registered Maine fishing guide. While working hard to make every day on the water fun and productive, he loves to share his passion with anglers of all ability levels. Mike strives to provide memorable experiences on the water for all his customers.
As a native Mainer, Mike is fortunate to live on such a special piece of coastline. Growing up in Harpswell, a coastal town steeped in fishing heritage, motivated him to work on the water.
Mike has been an avid angler and outdoor enthusiast his entire life, he spent much of his upbringing on the flats, estuaries and rocky coastline of Maine and New England.
Mike found his passion for chasing fish and tying flies at a young age, he spent a number of years honing his craft before starting Tidal Expeditions.
Sight fishing the flats is the foundation for Tidal Expeditions. In 1994, Mike first saw striped bass foraging in a foot of water while pushing his skiff out to deeper water from the tidal cove where he kept it.
Soon after, on a trip to the Florida Keys, he witnessed modern flats fishing techniques and was inspired to apply the same approach to striper fishing.
Mike has spent the past two decades honing the necessary skills and equipment while learning the best terrain for sight fishing in New England.
Throughout his life, Mike has observed natural changes and discovered seasonal patterns on Casco Bay and across the waters of New England; being in tune with these patterns is a key factor in consistently finding fish.
This respect for the fishery, ecology and maritime heritage has naturally driven hisĀ attention to stewardship and conservation. Mike aims to be a voice for these sensitive resources, participating in public hearings and communicating regularly with the Maine Department of Marine Resources and NOAA Fisheries.
